If using SAM with Samlight ( or any other host application ), switching on option /LARGEADDRESSAWARE for the resulting executable enables the application to use up to about 3.7 Gigabytes of memory instead of normal maximum of up to about 1.8 Gigabytes ( but must run under e.g. Windows 7 x64 - with physically memory installed >= 8 GB ).

( Under a 32 Bit Windows, you can enable the /3GB boot switch to provide more memory as usual to the SAM application ).

For Samlight, this option now is enabled by default, if you want to enable this for your SAM host application, use VisualStudio Tool 'EditBin' out of a VisualStudio command line ( application should have been build without any optimizations ) ...
